What is Trimesan
Trimesan is an antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body.Trimesan is used to treat bladder or kidney infections, or ear infections caused by certain bacteria.

Trimesan side effects

- sore or swollen tongue; or
- mild itching or skin rash.

Usual Adult Dose for Urinary Tract Infection:
Acute uncomplicated infections: 100 mg orally every 12 hours or 200 mg orally every 24 hours for 10 daysUsual Adult Dose for Cystitis Prophylaxis:

2 months to less than 12 years: 2 to 3 mg/kg orally every 12 hours for 10 days

Trimesan should not be given to a child younger than 6 months old.
What other drugs will affect Trimesan?
Tell your doctor about all medications you use, and those you start or stop using during your treatment with Trimesan, especially:

a diuretic (water pill);

dofetilide (Tikosyn);

heart or blood pressure medication such as procainamide (Procan, Pronestyl) and others;

leucovorin (folinic acid);

methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall); or

phenytoin (Dilantin).

How should I take Trimesan?
Follow the directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Take your medicine with a full glass of water.
Measure liquid medicine with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
Take this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared.
