What is Theraprim
Theraprim is an antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body.Theraprim is used to treat bladder or kidney infections, or ear infections caused by certain bacteria.

Other common side effects may include:
- stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea;
- sore or swollen tongue; or
- mild itching or skin rash.

Usual Adult Dose for Urinary Tract Infection:
Acute uncomplicated infections: 100 mg orally every 12 hours or 200 mg orally every 24 hours for 10 daysUsual Adult Dose for Cystitis Prophylaxis:

Theraprim can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Theraprim should not be given to a child younger than 6 months old.
What other drugs will affect Theraprim?
Tell your doctor about all medications you use, and those you start or stop using during your treatment with Theraprim, especially:

a diuretic (water pill);

dofetilide (Tikosyn);

heart or blood pressure medication such as procainamide (Procan, Pronestyl) and others;
